23 golfers left The Links at 07.45 and headed off to Bang Pakong on what was an overcast but dry day. It was the inaugural monthly medal stroke play for The Links and it turned out to be well supported on what is a very popular course. Although Bang Pakong is a bit further away, it is well worth the extra travel time to play such a good course which has excellent facilities and courteous staff.
It was certainly an excellent day for Frank McArdle who holed out in one at the difficult, 180 yard, par 3 4th hole. It was 59 year old Frank's first hole in one. Two other golfers, Selwyn Yates and Derek Hutcheson, both came very close to getting a hole in one at the 13th and 16th respectively with their tee shots being inside 12 inches.
As for the medal, it was Mark Haylock who triumphed with a nett 68. He beat Gary Kuhnel on a countback. Gary had the misfortune of taking a quadruple 8 at the 17th. Best gross score was 71 by scratch golfer Rocky Jones.
Free food was the order of the day at the well attended presentation back at The Links.
