Playing from different Tees
Q: Now that the new World Handicap System is in use, do we still have to make a Playing Handicap adjustment when players compete from different tees?
A: The WHS has introduced an important change: - your Playing Handicap calculation now includes a Course Rating minus Par adjustment. This means that the benchmark for all players has shifted from their respective Course Rating to Par. In other words, the new calculation automatically accounts for the Course Rating difference, which makes it easier for golfers to have a fair game when they are playing from different tees.
Note: You must use the full WHS (Course Rating minus Par) not just the Slope only.
For example:
If a Senior (Silver Tee) and a lady (Red Tee) were playing in the same competition as the men playing from the whites at Rayong Green Valley, the Playing Handicaps would be as follows: - Playing from the Silver tees (rating/slope = 70.8/119) with Handicap the Playing H’cap = 20.4 x (119/113) + (70.8 – 72) = 20.3 Therefore Playing off 20
Playing from the Red tees (rating/slope = 69.9/121) with Handicap Index of 20.4 the Playing H’cap = 20.4 x (121/113) + (69.9 – 72) = 19.7 Therefore Playing off 20
Playing from the White tees (rating/slope = 70.1/126) with Handicap Index of 20.4 the Playing H’cap = 20.4 x (126/113) + (70.1 – 72) = 20.8 Therefore Playing off 21
