GLEN RACES AWAY AT GREENWOOD

HIDE
A late flurry of on-signers on Thursday boosted our numbers for Greenwood where we played courses B & C. Like many courses this month, Greenwood was very quiet and we were given permission to tee off more or less as we were disembarking from the buses. Greenwood has been a long time favourite for The Links with their courteous staff and very good course conditions. Greenwood seems to be too far from Bangkok and too far from Pattaya in some minds which is a shame because it is a good test of golf. At 1.30 in the afternoon there were 12 cars and 3 buses in the car park of which all the buses and 4 of the cars belonged to The Links.
The Links management would also like to give a special vote of thanks to long time player George Mueller. George, as many people know, is a multi-linguist which means he is perfect for making up groups whether they be French, German or Spanish speaking. Today, it was 3 Spaniards who had the pleasure of his company.
Glen Elsworth and John McGee were the golfers of the day with 43 and 40 points respectively. Both are recent Green Jacket winners and their rounds today were excellent in the very hot conditions. Glen in particular has been in a rich vein of form recently and one can only hope this continues as he is the scribe’s partner in the Pattaya scramble next week.
