๐๐๐จ๐ฉ ๐๐ค๐ง๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐ค ๐ฉ๐ค๐๐๐ฎ, again a public holiday, and almost the same scenario, as the course had made bookings for a total of 220 players.
At the start, due to not enough carts and caddies, 10 of our players doubled up to get started. The Marshals then did their best to get carts caught up quickly.
Then, we found our first three ballโs starting behind two six balls, we love six balls. Wait until high season, so a frustrating start.
Because it looked to be slow going, our first two three balls joined up to make their own six ball. Not ideal.
After, again, a couple of no shows and drop outs, we started with 29 players, an indication, it seems, that we like this course which, in recent times, has presented in very good condition.
However, today the fairways and even the greens were very dry and hard, with difficulty holding a shot onto the greens. This could go to explaining why some players, including recent winners, had such out of character low scores.
But, there are always one or two who can defy the conditions and do well.
It seems a long time between wins for Andrew Purdie, mostly because he spends a lot of time working away from Thailand.
Since being able to stay longer this time, he is playing more and consistent golf.
Finally, hitting pay dirt on a day, as described, frustrating, he has scored 36 points to grab that long awaited win.
Steve Moxey wore the Green Jacket a couple of days ago and continued that form to score a very good 33 points for second place.
Now, joining in partnership of Links Bar with Moxey and Phil, Grant Pride got onto the leaderboard in third spot with 32 points on a course he has not played a lot.
Karl Flood, a long time member at Eastern Star, knows the course and usually has a good score here.
This time it was 31 points to take fourth place on a countback.
Vito Cirelli, on a quick couple of weeksโ trip this time lost that countback, but his 31 points is consistent for him.
Rounding out the six places was Darren See, who will be happy with his 30 points.

In the report of Jan.2020, we asked the question of overbooking. Was it due to a money grab or poor management? Perhaps a re visit to those questions is in order.
While we have named some golf clubs who are always organized and helpful to make our golf day stress free, there are a couple who do tend to frustrate.
A review of our scheduling may be in the offing.
