After some injuries and health issues, Wayne Peppernell started back to golf with a couple of indifferent scores.
However, the old form might be kicking in as he has made a U turn today to score a very impressive 41 points for a good win in the โ€˜Bโ€™ flight and his first Green Jacket for quite a while.
Greg Smith, playing in the same group also had a big form reversal to score 40 points to grab second place on countback.

Keith Griffith, in his final round this trip, lost that countback to finish in third spot. It was a successful trip for him since returning at the start of March, with some consistently good scores.

It was then a big gap to fourth place where John Chelo scored 33 points to take that final position.

The โ€˜Aโ€™ flight didnโ€™t quite reach the heady heights of 40 points, but a couple of 37 points scores from playing partners Derek Hutcheson and Kevin LaBar were right up there.

Derek won the flight on a countback from Kevin by having one point better on the second nine.

Keith Peplow and Dave Heyes also had to go to countback when both scored 36 points. Keith won out on that and took third place with Dave in fourth.

Some might argue that the high scores were due to playing the shorter white tees. However, a player must still hit the shots and, most importantly, make the putts.

The Khao Kheow course is probably as scruffy as we have seen it. The fairways are not cut down and the rough is that.

However, the good news is that there is a new manager, of only about three days, and he already has plans for a complete renovation. Closing a nine at a time for three or four months to upgrade should have our popular Khao Kheow course back the way we have always known it and, maybe even better.
