When we came to this course last month, the scores were in the upper range, where 10 of the 25 players scored handicap or better.
The winning score, then, was 43 points, needing a countback between two players.
Today, Masao Ishikawa has blasted away that record with a massive 46 points with even nines of 23 and 23, to record a good win Taking into account that Masao is 79 years of age, and mostly walks the course, makes this an even more exciting win.
One of the contenders in that countback last time, and the eventual winner, Jamie Booterbaugh was right in it again, taking second spot, again by way of countback, with another big score of 41 points.
Dave McKey also had an excellent 41 points to lose that countback and hold third place.
Of course, Huw Phillips, with his consistency of late, filled the fourth spot with another top notch score of 40 points.

The high scores would suggest ideal conditions and this was the case. Playing the forward yellow tees, with lift, clean and place on a golf course that is absolutely immaculate in presentation, is going to go a long way towards higher scores.
Then it comes down to the players lifting their game, and here today, half the field played better than handicap, so some pretty happy chappies.
