Like another course in the same area, this Bangpakong course is always in A one condition. One lovely feature is that the grass on the fairways seems to sit the ball up waiting to be hit.
The greens are immaculate and running as true as possible.

All of that should make it an easy game, but when you decide to play the short yellow tees, and call lift, clean and place, you had better have loads of big scores.

Petur Petursson, from his #6 handicap scored a great 38 points and all it got him was 6th place from 22 starters.

Recent ‘Jacket’ winners, Richard Dobson and Jamie Booterbaugh were in it again, both with 40 points, which might have won on another day. Richard won fourth place on a countback.

Three days ago, Bob Paine had a horror 22 points but this time was over the moon with his 41 points. However, the way this day was shaping up, that got him only into third spot.

Dave Clewley, on the other hand. was part happy with his score of 43 points, but he already knew that there was at least one score better.

That one came from a rejuvenated, newly concentrated, Mike Tottenham. with a fantastic 44 points.
It’s been a long time between drinks and Green Jackets for Mike, as we had to search back to October last year to find his last win.
This could be the start of a run!!

The weather is warming up, however, the humidity seemed less and conditions quite pleasant.
A change of scenery today, as we had the rare occasion of having a lady play in the comp.
Petur’s caddy, Kop, off a #14 handicap, did very well.
Petur has lined up two more golfing caddies for the Burapha
game.
