This was the final line of the report from our previous visit here and, no surprises, the presentation was indeed just as good or even better.

Golfers got the message and signed up in droves so that we had 48 on the start sheet.
After two scratchings on the morning, we arrived at Pattana with 46 players eager and ready to go.

We called ahead to ask for a two tee start since we had twelve groups to get going. True to the always accommodating management, we were given that privilege and, on the morning, were given the go ahead to start early.

The scoring wasnโ€™t as high as two weeks ago at this course when Nigel had 44 points, but, in the โ€˜Aโ€™ flight, it came down to an exciting four way tie for the first spot, with all scoring 37 points which, of course, had to go to many countbacks.

Two days ago, Russell Exley flew out of the gates with a big front nine but faded badly in the second half. This time a quieter start but a much better finish won the countbacks to take that winning spot.

Earlier in the week, Dave Heyes had finally found the form to get onto the podium and carried that through to score 37 points again to win the countback for second place.

Mike Kaps has played well enough to lower his handicap to #15 but didnโ€™t feel comfortable there. We think he should now, scoring 37 points from that handicap to take third spot.

No surprises that Francis Goyons would be near the top of the leaderboard with his consistent play. His 37 points took him to fourth place in one of his last games before heading home to Switzerland for a while.

A relative newcomer to Links Golf is Steve Doris who, in just his second game on this trip to Thailand, did well to score 35 points and sneak in to the final place on the podium.

The โ€˜Bโ€™ flight didnโ€™t reach any great heights but the in form player, Tony Browne, won that flight with 34 points and happy to take it.

Mike Firkin had one of his better daysโ€™ and, with 33 points, held second place.
Mike Tottenham has been fairly consistent and grabbed third spot with 32 points.
Rabbi, who probably has a second name. played his first game with us and did well to win a three way countback with 31 points.
John Chelo also had 31 points to take the final position in this flight, leaving George Mueller out of the placings.

Again, there was nothing but compliments for the presentation of the course, so it was a surprise when we were told by a manager that the three courses will close one at a time to make some more improvements. How good is that? They are always striving for the best here.

The weather at tee off time was a howling gale right down the fairways and that strong wind continued for most of the round, with no threat of the recent rains. We must accept that as the excuse for the lower scores.
