Back up the hill for another crack at this tough St.Andrews course went our nine groups, on an overcast, but warm morning. A couple of lady Korean groups started out ahead of our players, but didnโ€™t cause any delays.
The greens were playing slowly, as they had recently been sanded, but played truly. The bunkers are hard packed and in need of some proper sand. However, the course was in overall good condition.

The star of the day was the guy we have dubbed โ€˜The Nebraska Kidโ€™, mainly because that is where he hails from. Mike Kaps started this visit to Thailand about November and has played well enough to lower his handicap by quite a bit.
At our most recent game at this course, on Dec.29, Mike scored 38 points (on a handicap of 20) and has gone even better with a great round of 41 points (handicap 17) to win โ€˜Bโ€™ flight and be best overall.

Butsarawan Phintham (Noy)after finishing second last Monday with 34 points, has today scored 37 points to again finish in that position.

Phil Davies was next with 35 points to take third spot. Yes! He was in โ€˜Bโ€™ flight, just.

Martin Patch came back after an absence of some time to be the best of five players on 31 points and get fourth place, while Pierre Zbinden was next best on that score to grab fifth place.

The โ€˜Aโ€™ flight didnโ€™t reach the heights of 41 points, but Paul Durkan playing with an exorbitant six handicap played his usual excellent game to score 36 points for the win in this flight.

Roger Emery ran him very close, however, also with 36 points, but losing narrowly on countback and holding second place.

Another multiple countback to sort the next lot of placings as four players scored 34 points.

Paul Gill was the best of those for third spot, followed by Ben Hebert in fourth and Dave Heyes taking fifth place.

Glen Elsworth was the one to miss, but was compensated by winning โ€˜best front nineโ€™ with 22 points.

The sports day price again today was excellent, which allows us to play a course we used to avoid as being too costly.
How things change, and may these great prices continue and we continue to come back here.
