It seems amazing that, in the current circumstances of restricted travel and changing quarantine rules, that we could once again have a total of forty players.
Having this many players, we usually hope to be given a two tee start to enable everyone to get started quickly and easily.

At Pattana Golf Club, the starters are always very accommodating and when possible, as today, they will do that for us.
So, five groups on each of ‘B’ and ‘C’ courses were all teed off by not long after our 10.00 am tee time.

Huw Phillips was announced as the winner of ‘A’ flight. However, after a later chat with his marker, agreed that he had made an error, one of those pedantic things in golf, and deducted one point from his score, to leave him, still, with an excellent 39 points. There is still honesty in golf!

This left Lawrie McBride, who also scored 39 points in a very good round of golf, winning the flight on countback over Huw.
Lawrie has never won a Green Jacket before and was anxious to get the photo op, particularly as Mike Kaps had taken it for a repair job a day earlier.

Nigel Henson took third place with a solid 38 points ahead of Mike Ehlert, who realized that he had a wrong stroke score on one hole although, actually had the correct points, so finished in fourth spot with 37 points.

George Mueller snuck into ‘A’ flight and had 36 points for the fifth place.

In ‘B’ flight, Mike Firkin had one of his good days to score 38 points for the win in that flight.

Dave McKey has had visiting relatives so, even though his first game for a while, did well again with 36 points.

Paul Anderson won a countback on 35 points to grab third spot ahead of Young Min Ko.

Gang Zong, for his second game in a row, won a placing, with 34 points for fifth spot.

Considering the lack of recent rain, this course is in very good condition, although over enthusiastic watering in some places caused the odd mud ball.
The weather is warming up again and those welcome little breezes are becoming fewer.
