It was almost three years to the day when Mike Kaps first played golf at Links.
It wasnโ€™t a good start as he finished last that day.

On this trip, he had set a target for improvement, with the big goal of wearing the Green Jacket before going home in March.

Today, at Bangpakong, he fulfilled his wish to โ€˜live the dreamโ€ with a slashing 43 points to win the โ€˜Bโ€™ flight and overall top spot. Mike was so happy that he carried out his promise, that once the โ€˜Jacketโ€™ was on, he would โ€˜ring the bellโ€™.

Only the ever reliable Petur Petursson got close to that score with his own 41 points, gross 74, to win the โ€˜Aโ€™ flight, a Green Jacket on another day.

The Swiss-French duo of Roger Emery and Francis Goyons took out second and third places with 37 points respectively, playing with their usual consistency.

Ben Hebert rounded out the flight with a handy 36 points to take the fourth spot on a countback.

In the โ€˜Bโ€™ flight, George Mueller played one of his best games for a while, scoring 38 points to finish second to Mike Kaps.

Travelling buddies Dave Clewley and Keith Griffith, in now one of their final games before heading back to the U.K, finished in third and fourth places, with Dave just one point ahead of Keith.

The course had pushed our tee time back to 9.37 am and, as they decided that they couldnโ€™t fit our 10x four-balls, suggested that we play 8x five-balls. Not really good!

However, the starter accepted that we could play four-balls and off we went to the first tee, where we lined up behind Asian five and six-balls.

It was a very busy course, a la high season of old, so consequently a very slow round.
A footnote: After seeing some great golf from seventy eight year young, Jean-Pierre Gasser, he is now heading off home, we say au revoir and Bon Voyage, JP
