His marker described Paul Smith’s game as ‘awesome’. Playing from an exorbitant handicap of #6 on a very challenging golf course, Paul completed the round with a gross 73 on a par 74, for 43 stableford points.

This was his first game with Links since his return from the U.K. a couple of months ago and he brought out his very best game.

Mike Kaps has been edging closer to his oft’ stated desire of a Green Jacket. As his was the first card in, and with 38 points, he looked like achieving that aim until firstly, Paul Smith’s 43 points and then, on the final card of the day, a great score of 41 points from Tony Browne relegated Mike to third place.

Of course, seventy eight year old Jean-Pierre Gasser was with the leading bunch again with another sub handicap round of 37 points for the fourth spot.

Young Min Ko has been improving with each outing and his 36 points caused some reviewing of his handicap, but a job well done.

Jean-Pierre’s fellow Swiss French, Francis Goyons, also had 36 points to lose the countback to Young Min.

Marco Beer, another player from Switzerland, had barely stepped from the plane to run to Links to fulfil a promise of a game with Phil. He has played his usual steady round to score 35 points and grab the final place on the podium.

The starter got our first group, a three-ball, away a little early in low humidity conditions, with a breeze at times to keep things comfortable.
Many players had lots of compliments on the condition of the course. Even the slower greens were welcome.

With Xmas done and dusted, it came as a surprise when Joy cooked up the ‘spare’ turkey, along with baked potato and Yorkshire pudding for the after game nosh-up.

𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 is a PSC affiliated, friendly group and welcomes golfers of all levels. We play 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 ,𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆.
