What a difference a couple of weeks makes when a golf course gets no rain. The ground staff at Khao Kheow are trying, but fighting a losing battle, as the fairways are quickly turning to the colour of straw.
There are green areas, being the tee boxes and the greens. Here, the greens are in very good condition and running nicely and with some good pace, although the โBโ nine greens are slightly slower than our first nine.
A strong wind most of the round, fairways dry and difficult to hit from, and playing longer tees than we have been, resulted in some much subdued scoring.
It was, once again, the Swiss-French combination of Francis Goyons and Jean-Pierre Gasser who stood out in the โ๐โ ๐ณ๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ to take the first two places with 36 and 35 points respectively.
Tony Browne had another good game to hold third spot with a solid 34 points.
Vito Cirelli, on his annual visit from Australia, handled the conditions well to take fourth place on 33 points, while the ever present, Petur Petursson, filled the fifth place on 32 points.
Returning after playing at some different places, John Chelo steadied for a good round of 35 points to take the honours in the โ๐โ ๐ณ๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐.
Niall Caven has also been away for a week or so up country and, in his return game, scored 34 points for the second spot.
Neil Smith was there again with a moderate 33 points ahead of Mike Firkin on 32 points for third and fourth placings.
Our happy Korean visitor, Young Min Ko, played well a couple of days ago without being in the placings, but a handy 31 points got him onto the podium in fifth spot.

The weather was windy and somewhat โcoolishโ, reaching โonlyโ about 29 degrees.
Although our 10 groups werenโt able to get a two tee start here, all finished in good time.
A tough day at the office was forgotten as soon as the Spaghetti Bolognese came out once returning to Links.
