For reasons most were at a loss to explain, and with no hold up in front, the first nine was very slow by all of our five groups.
Surprisingly then, the second nine was completed in quick time, for the end result being that the first group finished the round in less than four hours.
There were some excellent first nine scores as six players recorded 20 points or more, one of those was 25 points.
๐ฃ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ scored 23 points for the first nine and then went on with the job for a total of 41 points, to make him a clear winner on the day.
Neil Smith is intent on lowering his handicap and another good score of 37 points will help. Neil took second place on a countback over Chris Walsh, who was the player with 25 pts front nine, but faded slightly coming home. 37 points is good effort though.
Petur Petursson is a very good golfer and has just missed the placings recently but, with an excellent 36 points from his #7 handicap, made it to fourth spot this time.
Once again, seventy eight year old Jean-Pierre Gasser was in the placings with a โmodestโ 34 points for fifth place.
Korean, Young Min Ko, was surprised that he scored 21 points for the first nine, and even more surprised when announced as the winner of โbest front nineโ. A confused look from him.

The weather today was, again, nice and cool with a steady breeze for most of the round.
The fairways here are well grassed, but as is happening now, some drying out is occuring here and there. The greens, with the benefit of the winds recently are dry and running truly, but quite quickly. Perfect if you can putt well.
Just like โold timesโ, Joy had made up a very tasty lasagne for all golfers to enjoy when we arrived back to Links. Needless to say, many stayed around for longer than has been the case to enjoy the camaraderie.
