PHIL LEAVES THEM TRAILING AT ST ANDREWS

It was another hot day at St Andrews where our 6 groups played on Friday. St Andrews is quite a unique course with its 2 par 6's and surely must have one of the most scenic opening hole on our schedule. Whilst waiting for our players to return, I took the opportunity to look at the work being done on Green Valley. The greens are taking shape now and the hoped opening date is for the end of October.
The Links golfer of the month for July was Phil Ashton and he went some way to retain the award with a Green Jacket winning 42 points which equated to a gross score of 2 over par. It was an excellent return from the popular Leicestershire man.
