PENNY COINS IT AT ST ANDREWS

Another dry, hot day greeted our golfers for the 2nd visit of the month to St Andrews. So far, the month of June has been excellent weather wise with our golfers staying dry throughout the month. It turned out to e a 2 horse race with Alan Penny and Colm ODonovan returning 40 points. It was Alan who prevailed on count back to win the Green Jacket.
I was given the opportunity to see the work going on at Green Valley and have to say that the changes to the greens are going to be very impressive. It looks very much like there will be change to the first and tenth with the first playing a new front tee and being a par 4 and the tenth playing off a back tee and being a par 5. The par 3 13th in particular is going to be very impressive with a natural stone boundary round the lake leading on to an extended green. I would like to extend my thanks to John and Jeff for the tour. It is hoped that the course will be open mid-October.
