Since the rains returned, recently, we have told of many days with dark, threatening skies, but having escaped getting wet.
It had to happen eventually, and today at Pattavia was the day. The heavens opened up and kept players sheltering for at least an hour, waiting for it to clear.
However, not all waited, and 19 of the 35 players decided to abandon ship and head for drier places.
Originally, we were to have two flights, but with just 16 players left standing, changed to one flight with 7 places.
Even on a perfect day, and always a course in very good condition, scoring is not that easy so, with 41 points, Keith Griffith has played an excellent round to beat the weather and the rest.
Dave Heyes has been finding some form recently and his 36 points is also well up there with his best, to take second place.
Richard Dobson is having a purple patch this trip and was in the mix again, this time a solid 35 points got him third spot.
Four days ago, Bob Paine scored 41 points and finished third. He has kept that form to score 34 points here for fourth place.
Huw Phillips has been consistent and, even though it was only 31 points, it was good enough for a place on the podium again.
Niall Caven, playing his final game before returning to the U.K was more than pleased with his 30 points under the circumstances, plus a bonus near pin.
Andy Kelleher also scored 30 points, beaten into seventh place on countback, and he also had a near pin.
Wayne Peppernell played only nine holes before the rain came, but 19 points on the nine he did play got him a โbest front nineโ.

It is that time of the year and, even though washouts are fairly rare, there is always the chance of it happening. Thatโs golf in the tropics, but we love it.
