How can you not want to play at the Pattana Golf Course? The management and course officials are so accommodating and helpful to us.

First we were given the ‘flash sale’ for a price of 1150 bht all-in, then with 42 starters our request, as usual here, was immediately granted for a two tee start, on the A and B combination.
Then, to boot, the course is still in beautiful condition, as it has been for quite some time.

Nigel Henson gets around different groups to play golf, but gets in games with Links. He is almost always on the leaderboard when he does and, even though he has posted plenty of good scores, his most recent ‘Green Jacket’ was at this very course on Feb.11 with a score of 44 points.
To win the ‘A’ flight and the top score of the day took just 41 points.

It was close though, as Petur Petursson is finishing this trip the way he started it. He lost a narrow countback to Nigel with his 41 points, a gross 73.

American, Jamie Booterbaugh, has settled nicely into Pattaya and is playing the golf that befits his handicap, or what it will be soon. 39 points is a very good day’s work to take third spot.

Mike Ehlert continues to get lessons and practice a lot so finding himself often in the placings. Fourth today with 34 points, and Nick Crossan rounded out fifth place with 33 points.

There needs to be a stewards inquiry into whatever Richard Dobson is on. We should all have some!

After winning his first ever ‘Jacket’ last week, he has almost done it again, winning the ‘B’ flight with an impressive 39 points. Speaking of handicaps, watch this space, Richard.

Following in this flight were many players with 34 points, so heaps of countbacks ensued. Glad I had the day off 555. (that’s Thai for hahaa) if you don’t know.

So, in order of back nine scores came hot and cold Neil Smith, then very hot and cold Mike Firkin, currently quite hot, Dave Clewley, and then ‘the Boss’ on one leg, Phil Davies.

That hot, humid weather we get about this time seems to be starting. It was so wearing that it sent three players back to the clubhouse after only nine holes. No rain, just hot.

On the other side of the ledger, the lead three ball had no problem and completed their round in a tick over three and a quarter hours.
