He doesn’t play every game yet, because the ankle problem persists, but Phil Davies has been slowly working his way back to the #12 handicapper that he used to be.
Playing off #17 at Royal Lakeside, 41 points was just like the old days for Phil and it gave him a good win, and the hoped for reduction in handicap.

Derek Hutcheson has played a couple of games with us recently and today was his best score so far. His 39 points got him to second place on countback.

Bob Rice jetted in from the U.S.A a few days ago and, in his first round this trip, went straight to the top of the placings with 39 points, beaten into third place on that countback with Derek.

Also newly arrived from Seattle, Andy Kelleher was back for the first time since 2020 and, like Bob, lost no time in getting onto the podium. A good, solid 38 points for the fourth spot.

Young Min Ko keeps improving and is becoming a regular on the leaderboard. Another very good effort to score 37 points for fifth place.

Mike Ehlert also had 37 points but lost the countback to Young and held sixth place.

Royal Lakeside has had the reputation for players getting high stableford scores, and has lived up to that with the first seven places all scoring handicap or better.

Needless to say, Royal Lakeside was in the usual near pristine condition and, of course, nobody could find a fault. The greens were very quick, which suited most.

We had seven groups of four out today and, even though we were behind a number of groups from another Pattaya society, the pace was so good that all groups finished in about four hours.
