Royal Lakeside golf course was in it’s usual wonderful condition with well grassed, wide open fairways, although starting to lose the green colour in some spots due to the lack of rain.
The putting greens are immaculate, as always, and the rough here is not that much trouble. Some with a weird sense of humour like the revamped bunkers.

At a very good price on offer, we had twenty four players make the trip north for a Xmas Eve round.

At our last visit here in November, the highest score was 38 points, a lower score than we would usually expect here.

However, it was back to ‘normal’ today as Chris Walsh rose to the occasion again, to present a great top score of 42 points and his second Green Jacket in six weeks.

It was our popular Korean buddy, Young Min Ko, who looked to have his first ‘jacket’ after finishing in an early group and presenting a card of 41 points.
His past few games have produced twenty plus points on one of the nines, but failing the other nine.
Today, he has put together two excellent nines for his terrific score to take second spot.

Petur Petursson is one of the most consistent golfers at the moment and, once again, figured in the placings with a fine 39 points from his handicap of #8.

Roger Emery is a low handicapper and goes about his golf quietly so that he sneaked into fourth place with a very handy 37 points.

All the way from Nebraska, Mike Kaps has been telling us how he would be wearing the ‘Jacket’ before he leaves. He made a big step in that direction by scoring 36 points to take fifth place on countback.

A clear blue sky with just a hint of cloud about, but the temperature was a couple of degrees warmer than for the past couple weeks. Is this the end of the cool season?
