On a day when the weather was just right, with low humidity and a nice breeze, and on a golf course that is in great condition in every aspect, some big scores were to be expected.
What was not expected was a winning score of 43 points, at least not that high a score at Pattavia.
Big Adam Davies is a handy golfer and had one of those days when everything goes just right. Even the quick greens were to his liking. A great score for the top placing.
Peter Kelly won his first Green Jacket at Links only a week ago and came very close to repeating that win. If not for Adamโs big score, he may well have had another one. 39 points will win most times.
But it was close, as Francis Goyons, who wore the Jacket for his first time two weeks ago also had 39 points to finish third on countback.
Now, Jim Ferris is not a name seen in the winnerโs list often enough, but a terrific effort today with a score of 37 points got him into the fourth spot.
Phil Davies continued the comeback with his 37 points to just lose to Jim on countback and take the fifth placing.
George Mueller thought that he had missed out, but he snuck into the final spot with 36 points to nudge out Mike Tottenham on yet another countback.
